CBCT Applications
CBCT imaging allows clinicians to accurately visualize dentoalveolar anatomy three-dimensionally by providing image slices in axial, coronal, and sagittal planes, which is information that cannot be gained from two-dimensional imaging (i.e. standard dental x-rays). This information can be used in all aspects of dentistry, including the following examples:
Evaluation of anatomical structures
- Anomalies
- Pathological lesions
Orthodontics
- Evaluation of impacted teeth
- Presurgical planning for orthognathic surgery cases
Dental implantology
- Providing accurate measurements for diagnostics treatment
- Planning for implant placement
Endodontics
- Diagnosis of periapical pathology
- Assessment of tooth/root morphology and anomalies
- Diagnosis and management of dentoalveolar trauma
- Localization and differentiation of root resorption
- Pre-surgical assessment and planning
